We supported an aesthetic medical device company with the identification and assessment of senior sales leadership across a complex, multi-country region. 

The Challenge

An international aesthetic medical device company engaged medtechexec to support the search for a Director of Sales to drive revenue growth across South East Asia. The territory covered a highly diverse commercial landscape, with differing regulatory environments, distributor models, and levels of market maturity across multiple countries.

The client required a senior sales leader with a proven track record in aesthetics or adjacent medical device sectors, capable of managing cross-border teams, strengthening distributor performance, and executing a region-wide growth strategy. The search scope spanned half a continent, requiring detailed market knowledge and on-the-ground understanding of regional talent pools.

Objective

The objective was to deliver a detailed market mapping exercise focused on senior sales leaders with proven success in spine and orthopaedic devices. We assessed factors including typical Director of Sales backgrounds, regional versus national remit, experience across direct and distributor-led sales models, and compensation benchmarks aligned with venture-backed medical device start-ups.

This analysis enabled the client to define the ideal sales leadership profile required to drive near-term revenue while building a scalable sales infrastructure.
